    120706 - Safe Sitter

    This class will help you land babysitting jobs and make you feel confident to babysit. This medically accurate babysitting training program will prepare young adolescents for the responsibilities of nurturing and protecting children. The class includes: Babysitting as a Business, Child Care Essentials, Preventing Problem Behavior, and Care of Choking Child/Infant. You will take a written exam and a test that demonstrates acceptable skills in care of a choking child. Fee includes: Safe Sitter student manual with completion card, LED flashlight, a drawstring backpack, and more. In order to receive CPR certification you must sign up for the second session at an additional $25.

    131580 - Volunteer Opportunities

    The Itasca Park District offers teens in Grade 6th-8th from Peacock Middle School or St. Luke's School the opportunity to volunteer throughout the school year. By volunteering at the park district, teens can fulfill required community service hours. The summer, the park district is looking for a handful of volunteers to help with our younger day camps. Hours will vary depending on the number of campers and how many volunteers sign up for a session. Sessions are 2 weeks and teens are expected to be available between the hours of 9am and 12pm for the entire 2 week session. If a teen has a prior commitment or restricted schedule, please indicate this on their volunteer application.

    131586 - Medieval Times Trip

    Teens will be brought back to medieval times, where knights and fair maidens put on a show. Enjoy a live jousting tournament, and marvel at awe-inspiring horsemanship and falconry. Cheer on your section's knight as he battles on horseback. Enjoy a four-course meal fit for royalty.

    Invite some friends and spend an evening at the park district creating some colorful tie dye! Tie Dye and other decorative supplies, and light snacks will be provided. Please bring a white shirts, sweatshirt, socks, or whatever you would like to tie dye. Make sure you dress for the mess!

    131589 - Counselor in Training

    The Counselor in Training (CIT) Program is for teens who want to learn to work with children and develop leadership skills. This program is perfect for any teen who wishes to be a counselor one day. CITs will work with either Camp Butterflies or Camp Adventure, under the supervision of the Camp Director and CIT Director. CITs will help set up and lead games, crafts, activities, help clean up, assist all counselors, and assist with supervision at pool time. Potential CITs must fill out an application and come in for an interview, just like a full day counselor. CITs will go through training before camp begins and will meet regularly throughout the summer. The CIT fee includes a t-shirt, field trips, entrance to the waterpark and trainings.
